Busy setting up Stompy's Craft ...

It has been a really busy few weeks setting up the products for Stompy's Craft Little Blog Shop. I have specialised in creating craft kits for children, from simple colouring shapes (that my 20 month loves to colour in (well scribble on)) to Canvas Collage Kits and Simple Sewing Kits.

More kits will be uploaded soon - along with a price list....



So now is the mad rush to get a stock ready for two Christmas Shopping Fayres.

Thursday 22nd November 7- 9pm  - Friends of St Johns Christmas Shopping Evening at St John the Evangelist School, Newbury.

Friday 7th December 4:30 - 6:30pm - St Nics School, Newbury.

Two new kits.....

I have got two new kits to add to my range.

 

Stompy’s Colour Me Mini Characters

5 Paper characters cut out and ready for colouring in. Use pencils, glitters, pens, stickers, stamps to decorate, the finished characters can then be used on other projects - pictures, collage, greeting cards, scrapbooks etc.

Currently I have Colour Me Mini characters in Christmas, Dinosaur, Owls and Robots ranges. The packs of 5 are simply wrapped in cellophane, and are perfect for party bags, stocking fillers, and table settings (at weddings, Christmas dinners etc).

They are also designed to fit into the Stompy’s Boredom Buster - to keep children entertain when out and about.

Character sizes - approximately 8.5cm x 11 cm

Stompy's Fun with Felt

These felt kits contain pre cut pieces of felt to make 3 cute Christmas characters to hang up as decorations - or to give as gifts.

A colour instruction booklet shows how to sew them together, and has a guide to some basic stitches.

Beautifully presented in a Stompy’s Craft window box, these kits are an ideal present for children 7+.

Please note - this is not a toy due to small parts. The kit also contains a metal sewing needle.

Stompy’s Simple Sewing Kits

Simple could describe the kit or the sewing of this kit.

Simply made up from a piece of Binca fabric (the cross stitch fabric for children) with a shape drawn on it, some wool or yarn, a needle and some little embellishments.
Or
Simply stitched, if you choose, just fill in the shape with running stitch.

A full colour instruction booklet is included, with descriptions of how to do the basic stitches. The booklet includes examples of completed kits done with running stitch or patterns of stitches. There is also a guide to help you design your stitch pattern before you begin.

The kit includes a metal tapestry needle, so it is not suitable for small children - adult supervision is recommended.
An adult is also needed to iron on a cotton patch to cover the back of the finished sewing.

The kit comes presented in a box with a shaped window and is ideal for a gift.

Stompy’s Simple Shapes - are delightful little kits, perfect for stocking fillers and party bags. Small enough to pack into your bag, not messy - so brilliant for when you are away from home. The finished pieces make great embellishments that can then be used on other projects too.

(The BUGS in the above photo where made by my 4 1/2 year old daughter - the only help she had was sorting out the shapes into the correct bug.)

This kit is all you need to make a wonderful fun collage. Whether it is to give as a gift to a child or for you to make and personalise for someone special.
The collage kit contains a variety of materials from fabrics, buttons, felt and paper. Once cut, some materials are then hand finished with pens, inks or paint.
All the kits are hand produced, picked and finished and therefore no two kits are the same.

Party Parcel
We can also box up themed kits with a few added extras for that special crafty session at birthday parties.

Personalised Kits
For a small amount extra, we also offer the option to add coordinating letters to the kit so that the recipient can personalise their art work.

Each kit contains:

* 20cmx20cm (8x8 inch) canvas board - with name plate on the back
* Enough collage materials to make the collage - e.g. combinations of paper, fabric, felt, buttons, sequins, wool, netting, petals, wooden shapes, gems, ribbon, beads, or googly eyes
* 40ml pot of children’s glue
* A full colour instruction booklet
* A length of fabric tape make a loop to hang the canvas

More Fabric fun with the Silhouette SD

Again the Silhouette SD came to my rescue when making a named toy bag for my youngest daughter.

 

As with the owl wall hanging I used cheap iron on adhesive to stabilise the fabric and then cut out quite intricate and small pieces for the letters and image applique patches.

I reused lots of old fabric for this make, including some old roman blinds for the main fabric ( I had to turn it inside out to hide the horrible pattern) the patches are demin from old jeans and the lining is a mixture of fun fabric left over from making a girls dress and an old bed sheet.

It’s not the best shaped bag in the world, but it does what I intended it to do, and that is holds lots of toys (it can also carry a 20 month old, as Chloe decided that she would climb in too!)

Fabric fun with the Silhouette SD

When you don’t have much time to get things made, I love any tool that can speed jobs up.

After searching the internet on how ot use the silhouette to cut fabric, I was hoping not to have to pay out for the specialist materials that the sites were recommending. Especially as I had recently found my 18 month old daughter sitting on my silhouette cutting mat - adhesive side down - on our door mat.
So I experimented using a spray mount on the cutting mat (after scraping off the dirt) making sure that I masked off the edges.
To stabilise the fabric I used a cheap iron adhesive bought from my local haberdashery. The Silhouette cut the cotton fabric beautifully, there was just a few tiny areas that needed to be snipped with scissors.

The owls I cut were then used as aplique decoration on a wall hanging for my daughters bedroom.

I hope to post more Silhouette SD applique ideas in the next few blogs...
