Disney Fairy Inspired Birthday Party

For her sixth birthday, my daughter asked for a Tinkerbell themed party, and so the fun began....
Party decorations: my youngest daughter had a wild animal party back in January (still haven't written the post for that one – ooops) and to decorate the walls we made simple leaf vines and tissue paper pompoms. These came out of storage (slightly flattened thanks to our cat Hazel squeezing into the box for a sleep!). My daughters and I then made little flowers to add to the decorations and to add to the party bags. We also made paper flowers out of wrapping paper to hang on the wall.

Craft activity: I had previously bought some wooden figures from Crafty Crocodiles, to make little characters for the girls dolls house. For the party I then devised a kit so the party guests could make their own fairy to take home. It had to be simple enough for 5 and 6 year old girls to complete, and I didn't them to be using PVA glues (because A: it takes so long to dry, B: I didn't want them to get it on their best party dress or fairy costume). So I opted for self adhesive felt and cut out lots of shapes by hand or using sizzix dies. Below are the pictures (sorry about the photo quality of some) of the fabulous fairies they made at the party.

Handmade gifts for party bag: we made simple Tinkerbell charm necklaces – using waxed cotton, small crimps, trigger clasps, extension chains, tiny silver (coloured) beads and glass/moonstone beads. My daughter really wanted to make some pixie dust (both blue and yellow – from Tinkerbell and the Pirate Fairy). I found packs of 6 small glass bottles in our local The Works shop for 99p. Into this we added the special pixie dust mix plus some easy growing flower seeds. We wrote instructions on how to sow the magic pixie dust – so we now look forward to seeing if any of the pixie dust grows. My daughter made each of her friends a little bead charm from the stash of beads, which was tide on with ribbon.
Also in the party bag was our annual themed puzzle book, with Tinkerbell colouring, word searches, code breaking and lots more.

My daughter also designed the bag name labels, using Craft Artist 2. The label design was also used for simple laminated place mats which had instructions on how to make their fairy on the other side.

I asked her to help out Mummy with the party set up - and she didn't let me down.

Thanks for stopping by.  stompy x
